Please note that due to some changes to the server configs, you might lose your inventory, /pwarps, and /home. Do not panic. We (Pit and Jeff, or any staff that knows how) will need to do manual changes to the server files to give you back your inventory. However, we are unable (or know how) to retrieve your /pwarps or /home, so you will have to (unfortunately) redo them. @Firedraft those packs are very resource intensive. I'm not sure the community box can handle them. However I do like those packs so yeah. IGN: Vibrators
What is this "community box?" I tried searching for it, but I can't find any info on it. Anyways I'm making a technic modpack 1.7.10 that has ~70 mods (forge says ~110). Currently uses 2GB ram at 10 chunks and average 50 fps on i3-4170 HD graphics. I prefer that I don't host it as my internet traffic is crap. Guess it is the router, like when someone watches YouTube your ping goes 200+. QoS doesn't seem to do anything. IGN would be: DrPitLazarus ( I wish I had money to buy Minecraft instead of using other means )
Is getting modpacks absolutely necessary? I don't know if anyone else has the same situation I'm in, but I haven't played actual minecraft in a long time, and I want to see the additions so far. IGN: AntlionKing
Spoiler Exactly what I'm saying. You're using 2GB of RAM per 10 chunks and some of the mentioned FTB modpacks require lots of space. You do NOT want 50 machines in 1 chunk which would cause like 50 chunk updates a second or more. It causes a lot of FPS drops plus TPS drops as well. Ideally you would want to spread 50 machines over multiple chunks. If we do decide to try running a FTB modpack then I highly suggest we have someone who frequently plays using OPIS to check peoples bases for lag because since people start getting advanced you WILL notice it. IE: 5 people playing will create well over 10 chunk updates as those people become more techniclly advanced. I also would like to mention that the Twilight forest causes a lot of lag for several reasons. So perhaps we can disable it. Its up to you guys really. If I play I'd like to make sure everyone has a fun and enjoyable time with the minimal amount of lag possible @Donkie can you please let us know what the specs of the community box is? Thanks! Spoiler The community box is just a spare core Devinity doesn't use for much or rather its a server Donkie rented for us to use for stuff like this (I can't remember which it is). They were using it for Terraria but I don't think its been used for that much anymore.
To be honest, Minecraft is still boring on its own. Mods make it more enjoyable. If you want to see what's new, just play it on singleplayer. Thanks Jeff, I didn't know Opis was that useful. I'll create two modpacks, a Lite and Complete. I'll see what I can take out for the Lite pack. :3
If you are creating your own type of pack. You might have trouble getting them compatible. Also I'd assume we would prefer machines then magic. Or just a little bit of both. Idk though.
Spoiler All of this really depends on how many people actually plan to play. This is probably more on par with what the community box would comfortably run with 5+ people. I don't see any reason we "can't" run some of the more mod intensive packs but people would have to be courteous. EG: No "MASSIVE" mob grinders or 6 quarries and stuff like that. Just run what you need. Which is why I suggested someone who can regularly run OPIS and check for base lag. Spoiler This is a "community box" not a "Jeff box". So it can be whatever you guys want. Personally I won't play if there are no mods as I find vanilla very boring. If you don't like mods and just want a vanilla then let everyone know so we can all try to meet somewhere in the middle. Spoiler I agree with vanilla being boring too. OPIS is very useful for troubleshooting lag so I highly recommend it to whoever decides to troubleshoot/fix lag on a multiplayer server.

I don't know if I'm even going to play. It really depends which modpack is chosen if any. If I do play it will likely be with the same 3 people I always play with. I might even just play solo since this is Devinitys server and I want to show off my skills
Modpack info here: http://technicpack.net/modpack/devinityorg-complete-modpack.729749 Server is up. PM me via Steam or forums for IP address.
Is this on the community box or your personal PC. The reason I ask is because I do NOT want to break your PC running all of my epic stuff
Currently my PC... which has 1.3GB remaining with both server and client logged into the server. I guess 8GB of ram isn't enough... Who has access to the community box? Just Bayrock and Donkie?
