Most of times we have seen that people need admins in the servers to apply rules, but no one (exept em' hard working people) make ban request, as they take time, is a pain in he ass, a lot of info, and others such as it takes days or even weeks to aprove, but how about there was a faster way to apply justice?. There is, in many Rp and other servers there is a /calladmin command, this would be good for this server, a faster way to exchange ban info to admins and have a quicker action on the situation. How can this work? Well, I was maybe thinking of a mechanism that when a player types "/calladmin" in chat a message like this will be sent to the shoutbox: e.g. " Caller/Player: (playername) Call reason: (optional) Server: e.g. Devinity #1 Flood" I think that with this people would stop breaking so much rules because they are so scared of admins popping up with a /calladmin request. Difficulties: So lets say the message pops up in the shout box, no admins are online, using the page admin-online-detection the requester player will stumble upon a message like this: "No admins/staff are online now" Also some admins don't even have gmod as I have been pointed out, this may be a difficulty to them, well just reply in the shoutbox with a message saying they can't. The same for admins who don't want to open gmod just for that, and that is another topic of 24/7/365 admins. Any other difficulty post in on the comments
All staff have Garry's Mod because the server and community itself are based around gmod. Also, it shouldn't be in the shoutbox because it isn't private. I can't think of a different way of doing it right now. A mechanic like this also means that it can be spammed, which would have various repercussions.
Only page members will be able to use it, this could probably atract more users, and spammers would be banned I know, Floppy told me...........
That's not the important part of my post. What is your view on another way of transmission? The shoutbox would still be a bad idea.
You can limit, it to trusted users, or people who sign up onto the forums, and have been there for at least 1 week.
Maybe not on shoutbox, maybe on a separated cage at the right side of the page, idk admins are pretty creative here........
Edit: This could be hard to implant into the server, and it could spam, but you can have a cap on the alerts (20) . Also when a Staff see the alert and goes in game, maybe you can add like a notification that one of the staff have already visited. After an hour the alert will disappear.
I just want to let everyone know that I support this idea 100%. I had a similar suggestion and I was pretty sure Devinity was going to implement it but then it didn't happen for whatever reason. This idea could certainly be implemented by Devinitys developers so thats always good news. I suppose it would mostly be up to the community if they would want something like this or not and if the Administration team would want to deal with the extra influx of help requests. Theres a number of ways something like this can be implemented as well and as for the anti-spam counter measures a simple captcha could suffice along with a bold red message "If you abuse this system you will be banned for 7 days" or something like that. My idea is a command or button in the menu that opens a GUI with an empty box for people to send a message to all participating administration. These messages could ve delivered through many different channels such as email, forums, phone alerts or anything you can think of so I'd like to hear what everyone thinks. Of course Donkie and Bay would ultimately have to decide which is best in the terms of simplicity and convenience both for them and us. So yeah, I like it! Definitely interested in hearing what everyone elses opinions are.
Instead of the 7 day ban, maybe 1 day working up to a 7 day ban. I would say through email, and forums. Phone is a bit to much for people volunteering to help out a server.
Great points Floppy! A 7 day ban for blatent abuse because there should be a warning literally right in front of your face and choosing to ignore that is very ignorant. Perhaps 3 days sounds more reasonable. You would want to keep abuse to an absolute minimum so that legitimate help requests don't get buried because some asshat decided to spend an hour submitting 100 queries. Though a case like that should be perma. Just making a point The phone suggestion was just something different so there is flexibility in wgat people would prefer. It literally could be a desktop app that makes a ping sound, a phone app a steam group message.... anythink you guys think would be easiest. I personally would have prefered email and forum with the option to disable alerts but thats just me. I can't speak for everyone. I also think it would be great if administration would get sent a quickjoin link with the notification amd if the quickjoin is clicked, the player wpuld receive a message like "A %rank% has received your request and is joining now" The options are endless.
Why would you? Some days you might not need to use it at all and some days you might need to use it several times. I think a once a day think would be quite frustrating
Idk where you're getting your info but I never said anything like that to you and honestly I can't remember the last time I talked to you either. Why would we approve a staff member that doesn't have Gmod?
Dankie might be able to make something in the sidebar or something for this because he's a xenforo sidebar god (No pressure), I've seen it on other forums (It was on MyBB but still might be possible). This would also mean that we might be able to limit seeing the box or whatever to certain ranks on the forums, so it wouldn't get in the way of regular players. [x]% of players do /callmod Comes up in box on forums /callmod can't be done from that server for another [y] minutes
As I say for the 394840958 time, someone told me that, it doesn't mean its true, idk, I think we talked in my ban/unban request
