Hello, I'm new here and I don't know if this is the right section, so please don't kill me if it isn't I'd like to volunteer myself to make a script that everyone would be able to use(either by lua_openscript_cl or by the server sending it to the clients) that would make people be able to record their screens only with a keybind instead of the tutorial at http://devinity.org/threads/how-to-record-a-demo.851/ Thank you for your time, GGG KILLER.
I don't see this as at all necessary, you have to go into the console anyway. Downloading + Running a client side script takes just as much effort if not more than doing "record 1" then "stop" in console.
As the tutorial states, the process to create a usable video isn't simply "'record' 1 then 'stop'". If that's the only thing that needs to be done, then the tutorial should be modified to recreate the actual required steps that need to be taken.
It'll make people be able to record only with a key bind, instead of requiring them to follow all those steps. Press the key 1 time to start recording and then press it again to stop recording.
His script would actually save time, but I'm not sure the amount of demos we receive justifies a bind. If it would also include support for uploading the video it could fill ban request evidence afterward. That starts to become more complex though.
Maybe we could use Dropbox's API for saving the videos online... I wouldn't be so sure as how to do that but I could do some attempts when I get some time from school
Well, I mainly made this thread to make it simpler for people to record when someone is doing bad things, but with this: http://devinity.org/threads/how-to-record-upload-a-demo-with-pictures.1450 I'm starting to think this isn't really needed.
I definitely get your perspective, but it's likely players who won't follow the process as it is wouldn't take advantage of a new feature either.
