While I was on, trying to teach my friends the way to Garry's Mod. I try to teach him how to use the mic, so he pressed down the mic, and held it for a good 5 seconds. In that 5 seconds, I told my friend that he shouldn't do that, but @Firedraft gagged him. I ungagged him, saying that he is new to Garry's Mod, and after a minute of me doing my things, I gotten banned by Firedraft saying, "How about you not undo my shit? Thanks. Try not to be biased. Idc If he's your friend or not. It was a gag....". I don't care that it was only a one minute ban, but I feel like he should of just gave me a VERBAL warning. Yes I was bias towards my friend, but I was just trying to teach him the game. You can even look at his Steam page, and see he only have like 2 hours on Gmod.
Firstly I probably shouldn't have banned you for a minute. First off his spam, might I add, fucking ear raped me. Also longer then 5 seconds. Now, I know he was new, but this doesn't mean he should be given more chances then anyone else. You instantly ungagging him, was disrespectful to me in the first place. Besides I didn't think you would take it seriously. I'll keep this in mind next time I "Abuse" you.
I was in the moment with my friend you know. Having a good time, then BOOM I got banned. Kinda ticked me off.
When I was on the staff team we talked about all these issues and I'm 90% sure that we came to the conclusion that we should stop using moderation tools in non moderation scenarios (Eg.Friends) Not undo other staff's decisions without consulting an administrator (Or if you're an administrator Bay/Dank) Don't ban other staff members unless absolutely necessary (They fuckin the servers up) Then again I'd probably get Dekek/Dank/Bay to confirm/deny what I've just said
I must of missed this information. I just always saw Admins (Rollie, Alex, and Rinaa) banning each other as jokes. So I assumed, why not.
I have in the past kicked people for prop pushing only to find out its two friends. They say "Why did you kick him? We were just messing around" I would reply "Because its against the rules and if I allow you to do it then other people think its OKAY". The same goes for Staff. Just because you "can" get away with doing something doesn't mean you "should". Staff weren't given these commands to play with. They're tools and you're expected to use them responsibly.
The thing is, this wasn't a joke. Firedraft, did the right thing by gagging the new guy considering the mic sound was "ear rape". But banning Floppy for ungagging him is where he went wrong. You could have simply said, "Why did you ungag him?". Instead you assumed he was doing it to piss you off or undermine your decision to gag him. You didn't know the whole story and that's how shit spirals out of control.
