This thread is not a giveaway, this is a earnaway. In this thread there are a variety of problems, the person that solves the most of the problems by Christmas (That's a lot of time) will be given a game(s) of value <£10 (~$15) (You can choose) (Might even throw in another game as a Christmas gift. (Remember what that's worth in the Christmas sale bro) I will regularly update this thread with additional problems If you post a correct answer to a problem (With proof) I will mark it as solved in the OP and reply to your post. Spoiler: Problem 1 Consider the following sequence: 0, 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 13, 17, 18, 22, 27, 28 Give the next 4 numbers in the sequence. This sequence is generated using similarities between number systems of other bases (Bases<5). Spoiler: Problem 2 For this equation, find d. Spoiler: Problem 3 Solved Is this statement true? Solved by: Wrathofthelamb (See Post) Spoiler: Problem 4 Solved Complete the following incidence matrix given that all rows are linearly dependent Answers from left to right: 1,1,0,0 Solved by: Firedraft Spoiler: Problem 5 Solved For the Matrix in Q4, represent it as an adjacency matrix Solved by: Wrathofthelamb (See Post) Spoiler: Problem 6 Solved Draw all homeomorphically reducible trees of size n = 4 Solved by: Holy Spoiler: Problem 7 Solved Last summer, five brothers of the same family married five sisters at the same church, at only a few hours apart The five brothers were: Tom, Lewis, Kian, Alex and Keith. The five sisters were: Elizabeth, Chloe, Amelia, Patty and Nicole. Kian was married after Nicole and Amelia, but before Tom and Alex Elizabeth is not married to Kian. The first and last couples to be married include Nicole, Patty, Lewis and Alex. Using these clues, list the couples and the time order in which they were married. Solved by: Wrathofthelamb Spoiler: Problem 8 Redox reactions occur in chemical cells to generate energy in the form of electrons. From the table below deduce the strongest reducing agent and state why in terms of electrode potential. Spoiler: Problem 9 Solved Find the maximum value of x for the function: Solved by: Holy Spoiler: Problem 10 A violinist is playing a violin, when he plays the string AB he produces an overtone of 780Hz. The violinist presses on a point (C) to shorten the length of the string that vibrates when he is playing. The diagram below shows the lowest frequency of its periodic waveform. Region CB of the string is of length 240mm. From the diagram deduce the wavelength of the stationary wave produced for the overtone of the sting whilst being held. Spoiler: Problem 11 Solved In terms of n, express the following sequence using one XOR function. 1, 3, 2, 6, 7, 5, 4, 12, 13, 15, 14, 10, 11, 9, 8 Where 1 is the 1st term (n=1) and 8 is the 15th term (n=15) Solved by: wrathofthelamb Spoiler: Problem 12 When a low molar concentration aqueous solution containing ethanedioate ions combines with to a solution of aqueous copper(II) ions, there is a substitution reaction. In this reaction four water molecules are replaced and this results in a new complex. Using your favorite tools (better be ms-paint m8), draw a diagram showing the bonds to the Copper ions, including bond angles, and correct planar representation.
Answer 1 Spoiler 29,31,32,34 Proof Spoiler 1,2,1,2,3,1,3,4,1,4,1,1 Damn I am only a Sophomore, and they never taught us this stuff yet. Rip
Question 4 is 1100. Each line can only have two 1's and three 0's vertical and across. This proof also works. The 1's are moving downwards and across by one. When it reaches bottom it converts to the top.
The answer to problem #1 with proof: .... 33, 55, 78, 112 Answer to problem #4: 1100 No two lines may have more than two 1's vertically or horizontally. Edit: aww I was beat to #4 D=
That's incorrect based off of the function that I used to generate the sequence. I do however realize that the sequence is too ambiguous. I've added another term to the question.
First : Nicole + Lewis Second : Keith + Amelia Third : Kian + Chloe Fourth : Tom + Elizabeth Fifth : Alex + Patty
@Rick Says 5 brothers are apart of the same family and 5 females are apart of the same church ? But then later says they are sisters ? No.
Problem 9: The Maximum is positive infinity while the minimum is 0. Proof: -x^2 = x^2 The graph of x^2 is a parabola which has no limit on it's positive x value. f(Infinity) = -Infinity^2 = Infinity^2 = Infinity
five brothers of the same family married five sisters at the same church 5 brothers, all one family 5 sisters (Obviously all part of one family if they're sisters) married at the church
Nope, remember "This sequence is generated using similarities between number systems of other bases (Bases<5)."
