Okay, We don't really get many educated and thought out threads around here, it's usually all anime or "lol fuck you jeff ur dum", so I'd like to see everybody's opinions on the sweet stuff; Ganja. Do you feel that the Green should be Seen? I encourage you to get blazed up in this thread and show your opinion, but make sure that you back up your argument with WHY, and make sure that you try to be open to other's opinions.
I'd rather see someone smoke a joint over drinking a beer. Stoned people are never mean and pot has little known side effects over alcohol. Also cigarettes... WHY!? My take on it.
I tend to believe the notion that alcohol and tobacco companies are blatantly killing people whilst marijuana remains illegal for unclear reasons. I'm not that concerned about hippies rejoicing over the inevitable yet slow legalization of the substance. I am concerned that there are currently marijuana offenders being tossed into crowded jail or prison systems with felons who've committed serious offenses.
Some may know that I smoke almost every day, so by that first hand account I can say that it's a great plant. The bad rumors surrounding it are simply false, being tied back to the Reefer Madness days and can easily be debunked. Absolutely no deaths, no harsh side effects (unless you consider munchies), it puts you in a wonderful mood, and not to mention the many health benefits from it. I will say that it's not for everyone and it should be legalized for anyone over 21 and for medical uses for all ages.
Smoking is not for everyone, but I definitely think is should be legal for recreational use, along with medical use. I've smoked weed a few times and I don't see and major cons to the drug.
I believe it should be legalized, for one, the amount of money in taxes it would generate is nuts. Secondly, as everyone stated, there aren't many side-effects to it at all, Cigarettes are very harmful but are legal while cannabis is illegal with less health issues as a cigarette. That's my 2 cents.
Yeah, A) It's a lot safer than cigarettes or any doses of nicotine. B) Medical uses of it work very well and help a lot with pain, like it's a very effective pain killer.
While I generally agree, there really has not been any extensive medical studies to prove this statement true. Scientists could end up finding that MJ causes allergies, birth defects or other long term effects. Though this is mostly speculation until some long term studies are done. Regardless, I feel its safe enough that it should be legal.
The advances we keep having have been good. Many children who have dozens of seizures a day have been seizure free since they have been taking CBD oil, an extract of marijuana. There have been noted cases of people beating cancer with CBD oil as well. Now that's not saying that it is a miracle cure. Like jeff said there haven't been enough studies on it yet to determine it's full potential. However the plant has been around for thousands of years, even known to be used by ancient Kings and Queens to relieve symptoms of sickness and disease. It's only been illegal for a little over 100 years in most parts of the world. I'll take it over alcohol any day of the week. You don't see someone high off pot driving through a crowd of people, that only happens with drunk people. Many lawmakers, judges, and police have come together recently to call for the end of the drug war as it is an utter failure. Even the UN is doing the same. So lets all hope that it at least becomes decriminalized soon, if not legalized.
I don't want to say I smoke weed daily, but it's become a routine every few days, obviously, burning ANYTHING and inhaling the fumes is not good no matter what it is. But it's a lot safer than alcohol/cigarettes. I'd rather smoke a joint than a cigarette any day.
Vaping seems to be the go to thing these day. I have a vape but it's not very good so I tend to not use it. However I've got a method of using the left over vaped weed to make cannabutter once you have enough.
I've also vaped wax/shatter, which is quite nice. My friend had a vape where it would actually warm up, and burned the weed, and it was a nice smooth hit. But I personally prefer joints and bongs, blunts are alright. But either if it was legalized and used for recreational, I wouldn't be allowed to purchase marijuana since I am under age, but it'd be nice for it to be decriminalized.
There's been some studies that underage use could have some side effects later in life, but I've been smoking since I was 16 and the only side effect I've had wast the munchies and a good time. I prefer my glass pipes or bongs as I can usually control my intake better than with a joint. I do like me a blunt every now and then especially when I'm smoking with friends as it's better to pass around.
On a related note, Canada just elected a liberal prime minister and they have plans to legalize marijuana completely on April 20th 2016. Yes you heard that right, they are legalizing it on 4/20. The thing is many major countries signed a treaty stating they will fight the war on drugs, thus making it so that on a federal level none of them can legalize. Canada is basically saying fuck that now. And If they can do it and no other country goes after them for it, then a lot of things will start to change real quick. Countries will say "If Canada can do it why can't we?". Also the US can't go in there and be against it because we already have 4 states with it legalized and the damn Capital of the nation has it legalized as well. So it would seem very hypocritical if they were against it. This could be the turning point and nothing that Alex and her stoner eyes can say will change that
