I believe if you get forum banned you should be able to still post in the unban request section of the forum instead of being forced to sit out the full punishment. It allows for players to explain their side of the story and allows for staff to take a second look at why he was banned, if he stays banned, he will have a bigger explanation of why he was banned. If he gets unbanned/lowered ban time, good for him. I just noticed when I got banned I couldn't do anything about it besides message a higher-up on steam.
It would be good that for a forum-banned user, when they enter Devinity there is a link that says "Click here to make an unban request"
if you get forum banned you cant even check your inbox either you cant even see the fucking rule you broke to repent for your actions its like someone getting in jail and no one telling him what he did wrong, it makes no sense
The only way most of us can ban on the forum is through warning points. If you accumulate 10 warning points, then your account becomes heavily restricted. Under bad circumstances like clyde who was an overall annoyance to everyone and was spam posting all over the forums, we would put 10 warnings on his account to ban him instantly. However in normal circumstances you would only get 1 warning per infraction. You really don't start seeing your account restrictions util about 7 or 8 warnings. So if you honestly can't fix what you are doing or talk to someone about the alleged wrongful warnings before it gets to a full ban, then maybe you need to re-evaluate how you do things. You could also message Bayrock on steam as he is one of the few who can reverse warning bans if it did happen to go that far.
I am not talking about warning bans only, just getting banned instantly and wrongfully, you should get a saying on your behavior or try to fight against a wrongful ban.
An instant non-warning ban can only be done by Donkie and Bayrock if I'm correct. So if you've done something to piss them off enough to ban you, you should take it up with one of them directly. Otherwise you should have plenty of time to rectify any wrongful warning bans.
Still doesn't change the fact that people should have an opportunity to appeal warning level bans. You should never assume that you're absolutely right as an administrator.
While agree for the 1/50 that probably get wrongfully banned, the other 49 should have plenty of chances to right their wrongs.
Nobody should be stopped from appealing, that's the point I'm making. Because you can't know whether or not somebody was rightfull or wrongfully banned.
Plus an appeal doesn't necessarily mean an instant unban. If the person was banned for practically objective wrongdoing then of course the appeal will be denied. Its better to see the community's opinion on the subject as well, rather than one totalitarian style of moderation.
