Idk about you guys but I like the alternative game modes just as much as the normal mode. A "later down the line" idea would be to have a server that only does alternative game modes. That is once we can support it and and have more than pirate and tower modes.
I really don't consider that an alt game mode, there's nothing different about it other than having a big team.
I think players hungry for a new event will be in for a treat with the next update. That's about all I'll give away until then though. As far as opening an 'event only' server I don't think that would be very viable for us currently, but in the past we have had a serverwide event over the span of a scheduled period where it was only pirate rounds. We could potentially host events such as that in the future.
You can hover over the Flood forum to see the Gametracker stats from the homepage. I do agree we could have them displayed more visibly though. As far as your event ideas they're good thoughts. Believe it or not we already had a Juggernaut event in the past and it didn't pan out quite as well as we imagined. It could be revised in the future but I have no word on whether we'll ever actually get around to that. The Ichthyosaur and boss round ideas are both similar and we've had the idea of an NPC round before as well, but never got around to executing it yet. I'm glad you mentioned the Ichthyosaur because I think the biggest hurdle with an NPC/Boss event was the assets of the NPC. With the Ichthyosaur we can use what's already been given in HL2 so it could certainly be feasible. Improving the sounds is not a bad idea, and I'd support it given the right set of sounds. Taunts has been an idea in the past and could certainly be added as a store purchase as Donkie mentioned. I support the idea of round start/end sounds so long as they're fitting for the Flood.
In my opinion it was mostly a learning curve issue similar to what I personally think we have with the Build to Top event. The juggernaut round was much different from a regular Flood round, or even a haste/team round. It's something that a notification during build round simply couldn't convey and ended up leaving the fight round in total pandemonium instead of anything resembling what we imagined. It's important for events to be communicated clearly, and I think the Jugg round was a good example of why you can't drastically alter the natural flow of Flood gameplay without providing the player clear and simple goals beforehand.
New gamemode: Base round. In this gamemode, player damage will be enabled along with all props. To make it not all PvP water level will slowly rise forcing players out of the base. Now I do not have this all thought out but another idea for this mode is, to reduce amount of used space, the players are split into 2-7 teams that spawn in separate rooms. Now a few side notes: I am thinking out loud with this hence it not being polished. The spelling may be bad because I am out of state for a week or so forcing me to type from my phone. To go along with that I will be away from game for the week until Tuesday. I will be online my phone if any needs for some reason to contact me.
Mods (staff and above) and VIPs should have the option to enable a vote for an alt game mode for the next round. Every single time I go on flood, someone asks if I can change the round to tower, pirate, etc,. It's a great idea seeing as how random the alt rounds seem to be. I have yet to play mortar round after playing nearly 30 rounds. I think there was one pirate round in that mix and that's it. At the very least if we could change how often alt rounds happen that would help.
That's great Rick, good for you. Except that doesn't help me or any other staff or VIP without that privilege any when you aren't in the server.
I do however think that it would be a good idea for you peasant players to have something along these lines, seeing as Pirate Rounds are like 2000% more fun than normal ones. Something similar to Votekick, VoteBan, Voteskip. Voteround.
I'd suggest it being a vote for a random game mode, not specific ones as they might get overplayed, but that's just my opinion.
I like the Easy Precision tool an awful lot. Combining it with SmartSnap (which is already installed on your servers) is chocolate and peanut butter. Can we please have Easy Precision?
That's actually a good suggestion. I've thought about event votes in the past but it's a bit of an issue voting for specific events. A vote for a random event would certainly be more viable. I spoke with you earlier and you had the realization that right clicking with the default weld tool accomplished the same thing.
Well you've come to the right place mate!(<---comepletely ignore this, i just got up) Weapons are my specialtys (cause if you dont already know then i suck at making boats) but any ways, there should be another type of rocket launcher, more close range weapons, theres only the HE-nades, M249 and shotguns that are really 'close range' weapons, and omg i went lazors! also, there should be more snipers, and guns like the M16 or the galil/ak etc. Thanks for reading, and as always: Lange leben, Sei stark, Leben zu retten!
Clan emblems People make their own custom emblem, when ever someone is killed by someone they have a death screen that comes up and the emblem of the killer will show up. So we could add clans kinda. So if people have the same emblem as other they could be clan. I'm not to sure if this makes sense if l stuffed something up tell me.
Killing Floor has some great "wave" music, which is basically what flood has. Prep stage, then fight stage. After listening through the soundtrack, I found quite a few songs that are long enough to be used throughout both the build and fight stages. Would be great if @Donkie could add these for the Halloween event. Build stage: Spoiler (This one is called "Surface Tension", it fits perfectly for those last few seconds when you are running out of time and your boat isn't finished)
