Seeing that there are quite a number of staff members leaving the community due to various reasons and that we used to have lots of committed staff members in the community, I feel that implementing an ex-staff list in the forums would be ideal in a growing community such as Devinity. This ex-staff list will include names of those who have played a significant role in this server or have performed their duties well during their time as a staff member. The purpose of creating an ex-staff list is to recognize the efforts of staff members during their time in the server. These are the kind of people who would come back every now and then just to check on the servers and to chat with people they used to associate with. By having this list, it can encourage these people to partake more in server activities and that they will not be forgotten in due time. Yes, it may be troublesome to update it every now and then, and some may even question the validity of such a project, but I think we shouldn't forget those who spent their time and effort into this thriving community. I've expressed this idea to a few staff members (jeffreythe00 and CounterCraftz) before creating this thread, and they have brought up valid and justifiable reasons with regards to the idea. Counter stated that this idea wouldn't do good, since it can lead to ex-staff members into thinking that they are entitled in this community and that it can lead to arrogance. While his reasons are justified on this matter, we can resolve this by only allowing those who were honourably discharged from service (voluntary resignation) to have their names placed on the ex-staff list. This will at least reduce the chances of such incidents occurring within the community and it will set a standard for the staffs in Devinity. I propose this suggestion to all of you here so that you can give your opinion and feedback on this idea. While I am in support for this, I understand if you have any concerns or doubts with regards to this suggestion. This is, after all, a community discussion. Thanks a lot for reading this. Also please correct me if I am wrong on the matter Counter.
I like the idea, but the problem with having only recognitions is it really doesn't list ALL of the ex-staff, it's just a list of staff who resigned instead of getting demoted. And even if we did have a resigned/demoted list, half of the people would be jr. Mods who left the community when they got jr. Mod.
I don't think this will cause an issue at all. I think it's nice to respect those that voluntarily sacrificed their time to help our community and assist in moderation. I do think that people have the right to opt out and not have their name listed. If they aren't comfortable with it, we shouldn't do it.
I like it but only for people who decided to move on, not people who were demoted, stripped, or banned.
So it will be a list of mature ex-staff? Also I think if this is added, we should ask them IF they want to be honored in the thread, because not everyone does.
Staff members who were part of this community and had to resign due to commitments in real life are eligible of having their name on the ex-staff list. Those who were accused of misconduct or such will not have a chance at that. I do agree that it should be an opt-in policy; not everyone may prefer to be remembered in this community.
See this is what I thought would happen (and will happen.). You're going to make some ex-staff feel bad about themselves because they're not a loud to be on this list. Or at least offend them. This could turn into a mess really fast.
We could start this ex-staff list from today onwards. It would be difficult to trace these people from the very beginning since that would mean going back into the records, which will be very troublesome. Although some may disagree with this, I think it will be wise to start a new page on this one.
Hey, I know it will be difficult to do this since it would mean excluding out certain people from the list. I do hope that there will be a better solution towards this though. :\
