we talk about chinese cartoons here and other weeb filth if you're new and want to waste your precious time on Chinese animation then here's some essential resources and advice: Spoiler Use www.KissAnime.to for streaming. High quality with no obstrusive ads and mobile support. www.KissManga.com should also be used for reading manga. Read manga from right to left rather then left to right if you didn't already know. You can use www.nyaa.eu for torrenting which has technically higher quality (bitrate shit). Use www.MyAnimeList.net to keep in track which shows you watched, as well providing information and statistics/reviews for any anime/manga. For communities: Use /a/ if you like smart people pretending to be stupid assholes. Careful of bait and intentional shitposts. Use /r/anime if you like stupid people pretending to be smart. Careful of unintended shitposts and reposts. Both have their fair share of toxicity. /r/anime is generally a lot more friendly but they dank meme harder and because of how their voting systems work, "funny" posts get higher than the ones that actually incite discussion. I hate /r/anime with the passion, and hell I'd say MAL is better, but /r/anime is definitely popular. as for recommendations for critically acclaimed shows, manga and anime movies that are good for new people and aren't garbage (not necessarily my favorites): Spoiler anything that has the tag with high priority is something you definitely need to watch/read Anime: Action Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (high priority, godly) Code Geass Gurren Lagann Eureka Seven Cowboy Bebop Maybe if you can withstand mediocre writing Attack on Titan Thriller Monster (high priority) Death Note Psycho Pass Steins;Gate Parasyte Romance Your Lie In April (warning: feels) Nagi no Asukara/A Lull in the Sea Toradora Clannad/Afterstory (watch the first season just to watch afterstory, warning: feels) Comedy Daily Lives of Highschool Boys (Nichibros) Plastic Neesan Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun Psychological ("smart" shows, elitism will run through your veins) Neon Genesis Evangelion Serial Experiments Lain Puella Magi Madoka Magica Ergo Proxy Movies: Grave of the Fireflies Wolf Children Princess Mononoke Spirited Away (high priority, heavily reknown by even western critics (98% on rotten tomatoes)) Insert any other damn Ghibli film here Manga: Berserk (high priority, the golden age arc is heavily considered by both elitists and casuals alike to be the pinnacle of manga and an essential for any manga fan) Tokyo Ghoul Fullmetal Alchemist Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
You should add Clannad, Toradora, Ao Haru Ride, Sakurasou no Pet Na Kanajo and My Little Monster to the romance section. All are very good animus
I considered some of these and although they are undeniably good I don't think they are necessarily good for new people. Then again I did put NGE and stuff there so I'm being pretty hypocritical. I'll add a couple in a little bit. I thought I had Clannad and Bebop already on there, strange.
To be fair it can be good for some people who like that type of psychology exploration. I know of an older person who got into anime because of NGE since he liked that smart type of stuff.
berserk author finally after 8 fucking years announces that he's back and he'll be releasing chapters monthly consistently which is extremely rare for berserk. shit gets released chapterly like every half a year. new anime project for berserk this year as well, happy days- until 3 chapters later he announces he'll be going on another hiatus lasting until this fucking summer r u kidding me rumors say the anime is going to be all in cgi r u fuckin kidding me i don't want to go out like this
Dont know if you have seen it, I know I spoke to you about it but I like the Anime Detective Conan. I love Mystery/Romance/Action films the most. And this anime has it all. I dont want to spoil it but... Kudo-Sinichi is a high school detective who is as smart as sherlock holmes. There are people (the men in black I beleive) that jumped him an drugged him to kill him. What they didnt know is the drugs did not kill him, they just turned him back into the 10 year old boy he used to be. The only person that knows of his transformation is his uncle/professor and is trying to keep his identity a secret while is High school lover, Ran, takes care of him with her dad (annoying as hell) detective. (he sucks at detective work). So everytime a case comes around (usually murder that seems impossible to be done) Sinichi, or Conan as he calls himself, shoots him with a stun prick with his watch and talks through a bowtie speaker to make him sound like whoever he wanted. I love this anime so much I am going to watch it. Right now.
Yeah Detective Conan is hella popular. Pretty influential too. Too bad it's god damn a million episodes long though. If you like that you can try Hyouka. It's pretty casual. The visuals are stunning (as expected, since its made by like the best studio in terms of art atm) and its well written. The show basically revolves around a kid in high school who isn't edgy but can't give a fuck about what's going on around him- he says he wants to spend as least effort as possible in everything. He's very smart logically and can easily solve difficult mysteries. He slowly befriends a girl who's naturally curious about everything, and she continuously makes him solve stupid shit even though he's really adverse to doing it. Their chemistries blend pretty well and the show can get really entertaining. The characters are pretty fleshed out, the mysteries are well written and sensical, and there's not much melodrama. I heavily recommend it.
Bruh, I haven't even finished Highschool of the dead lol. I should probably rewatch Death Note and Soul Eater because I watched them like 3 years ago.
you need to watch better shit Jesus original video animation essentially just shit that gets released without going through theatres or proper television broadcast usually, they're just specials or mini episodes of popular shows or just low budget crap that you shouldn't bother wasting your time withwith Charlotte - 7 anyway, my list (watched a lot of shit that I haven't put on it): www.myanimelist.net/animelist/mapplesauce have fun reading the mini reviews I wrote
A combination of the two depending on the series and circumstances. It's difficult to find a high quality stream with proper subtitles for all series, but if I can find one it's usually more convenient. Sometimes I'll torrent from BakaBT if I want to ensure the best quality. The video playback is also much smoother when it's viewed locally. A streams playback can be choppy depending on the source, and it's not ideal for skipping back/forth. I often skip backwards to read chunks of the subtitles or context I missed. So, the answer is based entirely on the situation. I watch from my HTPC hooked up to a 4k Ultra HDTV in my living room, so my needs are a bit different than the average weaboo. Generally a torrent provides the best overall experience for my setup, but I take what I can get. edit: Also, for reference here's my list
Yeah, torrenting is probably better if you're watching on a 4K TV. Though, if you ever want to stream for whatever reason (perhaps on a tablet or phone), try www.kissanime.to . It's pretty damn good. Has practically every show/movie, even a god damn Japanese WW2 Propaganda film a friend and I found. It offers HD, mobile support, and best of all no ads, which makes it 10x better than any other streaming site. For some stuff you can even pick the subbing group. I usually just torrent from Nyaa.eu.
I've used Kissanime, but it doesn't like my AdBlock plugin, and I don't like disabling it on my HTPC. You know why if you ever had one of those extremely loud ads pop up, and you frantically try to close it but it's no use. Anyway, I prefer using Crunchyroll whenever the option is available. It's a legal source, and directly supports the anime industry. If you use AdBlock the advertisements are skipped instantly too. However, RandomRamen is probably my favorite if Crunchyroll is unavailable. Great quality, airs same day as Japan, and responsive web design is a huge plus in my book Oh, and I use BakaBT because private trackers are safer, and maintained much better. The download rates are much more reliable too, because members must maintain a positive seeding ratio to participate. It results in more consistent quality torrents overall.
