I can't even vote, but I just can't give into Bernie's minimum wage plan, if he raises it to fifteen dollars, then the price of everything will go up. Ex. You go to a bookstore, a month earlier you bought a book in a series for 10 dollars, not this book has gone up to $15. The quality is the same, just raising minimum wage like this is practically discouraging going to collage. Also, Bernie seems to heavily lean onto the socialism side of things, which just isn't fair, america wasn't founded on someone working really hard to get something, and the other non-working person getting a large amount of what he worked for and just keeping it, this would ruin the lower portion of the upper class

How would raising the minimum wage discourage people from going to college? There's not really a whole lot of reasons to go to college anyway. If you're not wealthy enough to pay for all of it yourself you need to take out student loans which will drag you down for X amount of years after you get out of college while you're paying for it with the money you earn from (most likely working) a crappy job that pays either minimum wage or a little bit above it. That degree you worked your ass off for 4+ years? It's practically worthless now unless it's in the STEM field and if you're an average American citizen going for a STEM degree, chances are you probably can't pay for all of that yourself so it all comes back to the student loan problem.

How is Socialism not fair? Socialism is designed to give every person a fair and equal opportunity to success. I thought that's what America was all about? Whatever happened to the American Dream? Oh wait, that got thrown out the goddamn window with big multinational corporations screwing everyone over and buying every election with all of their $MONEY$ that they practically shit out and wipe their asses with every quarter (and they still have enough to give big fat bonus checks to their CEOs, CFOs, COOs, and the like).

The rest of the developed world is moving ahead of America. Not a single country in Scandinavia has a mandated minimum wage and it is instead negotiated by the employers and employees through the use of the magical construct called a union (please correct me if I'm wrong about this, I only had the patience to do some quick research). Germany and France have minimum wages that equate to around $11/hour and $12/hour respectively. What about us, the United States of America? The "best country on Earth?"

    $7.25/hour

Seriously? We glorify ourselves every single day yet we're paying our hard-working citizens, as you said, barely enough to even scrape by every month? Now obviously I know minimum wage differs from state to state (here in Oregon it's about $9.25 if I remember correctly) and some people may have it lucky, but some states just say "fuck the lower class!" and don't bother to raise the state minimum wage.

Sorry for the long rant, I've been lurking on this thread for a while ever since my first post in it and haven't seen anything else that seems interesting to me to discuss.

I just can't get over the fact that, your taking the upper-class' money and giving it away, you should have to earn it yourself.

It's not going to be "given away," it would be put towards government programs that would help people get out of the trench that is poverty. It would be put towards achieving universal healthcare which is another thing every other developed country in the world has for its citizens.

I encourage you and anyone else who is interested to watch that video. It's 4 years old now, but the ideas presented in it are still very true today, if not on an even more extreme scale. The wealthy really are "wealthy" in every sense of the word and to keep their "wealthy" status they try to use every loophole in the tax system that they can find and unfortunately it has worked very well for them. They need to pay up, it's not like they're going to go bankrupt anytime soon.

Same argument with corporations. They've been using loopholes to keep squeezing profits out of the government and it's time for them to pay their fair share to help out the people who more than likely are their consumers.

Just read an article that the top richest 67 people in the world (people, not families) now own more money than the rest of humanity.

Socialism is a dangerous concept to meddle with because the honest hard worker is forced to support the dead weight of society: those who have no desire to contribute (e.g., welfare abusers, drug dealers). That equal distribution of wealth has to come from somewhere, and more often than not it suffocates the middle and upper classes. On the long run, socialism only further burdens socioeconomic growth and/or recovery. Why should someone that has put themselves through school to become an engineer, for example, be inclined to split his/her earnings with people that simply take, and take, and take, only to reciprocate with nothing?

Capitalism allows people to make something of themselves only if they are driven enough to do so via commitment and perserverence. Successes and failures are predicated on choices made. Will one choose to buck up and help themselves out, or choose to remain sedentary?

While what you say is correct, you do know that Sanders is a democratic Socialist rather than a full blown socialist right? We already have numerous Socialist programs that work so well, most people don't even know that they are socialist programs. When we get huge snow storms, a socialist program is what pays state workers to go out and plow roads. Many airports are there because of socialist programs paid for it. Even our public education is a socialist program. Democracy and Socialism go hand in hand. All over the world, wherever the idea of democracy has taken root, the vision of socialism has taken root as well—everywhere but in the United States. Because of this, many false ideas about socialism have developed in the US. Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.

Have you not realized that the majority of reddit/imgur is just people posting things they found elsewhere? Plus I never said I made that or took credit for it.
    Actually it's pretty funny.
