Chester Bennington - singer and songwriter, frontman of the rock band Linkin Park, took his own life a few hours ago. His body was found at a private home in the county at 09:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Thursday. He hanged himself, and dont really know the reason why. Rest in peace, Chester.
Heard about this "all over the place" yesterday. Even successful individuals can have the darkest demons. Treat others how you wish to be treated. No matter who they are, I think.
I liked a lot of their songs. It's sad there won't be anymore new ones. I think that he hung himself because he was already dealing with demons (he was molested as a child I think) and his friend committed suicide in May (the singer of soundgarden) My love goes out to him and his family.
I knew it. Somebody had to do a thread just to say some "Rest in piece" thing. It's not that I don't care about this guy's death, but damn, I'm a bit tired alredy of people being like: "HEY CHESTER FROM LINKIN PARK KILLED HIMSELF ITS THE GUY FROM IN THE END DNFOIDFOPI"
I grew up listening to Chester, Linkin Park was a staple in my teenage years. While I don't listen to them much anymore, I can still recall many of the lyrics from some of my favorite songs of theirs. Many of the lyrics, when broken down, can really show some of the thoughts these guys have. Some people have all the best and worst things in life. Despite his fame, fortune, and talent- he was still a tortured soul. He had an abusive spouse (previous marriage, no clue about the current one), sexual abuse early in life, bullying, and obviously crippling depression as a result of those things. But regardless of that all that. His music has affected millions in a big, wonderful way. His legacy will remain as such.
I wasn't a huge fan of Linkin Park, but the effect he had on so many people was amazing. Rest in peace.
I hated their music, but I do agree that it's extremely tragic when someone with so much more time left ends it so suddenly. Much like Kurt Cobain and Robin Williams they are able to affect others in such positive ways but never truly are able to satisfy themselves. Not sure a thread needs to be made everything someone dies, however the amount of media coverage it's gotten really took me by suprise.
He was the singer of one of the most famous rock groups , ofcourse it was going to get media coverage. I used to listen to Linkin Park a whole lot back in the day , was a big fan. It's really sad to see him end him go like that , I would have never expected him to go that far. He always seemed like a very positive person on TV and radio , that just goes to show you never really know what someone could be going through deep down.
Personally I don't even think of them as that famous or a rock group, not saying they aren't but never saw them that way. When I think rock I think Clapton and Stones. When I think pop I think Joel and Elton John. and when I think country I think Johnny Cash. Guess my taste is a bit outdated but even in high school I can only remember one girl being a fan and that's only cuz she wore the same shirt every day with their name on it.
I only see Hybrid Theory's breakout as a point where they were "famous", so of course you wouldn't see that many fans when you were in High School, since their popular period was about 15 years ago. I hated their music as well (Then again I hate the entire genre of Nu Metal) but I see them as a "gateway band" for a lot of young people during that time for discovering music, so a lot of people had memories attached to them. That's a big feat on it's own.
