Thanks to @Dawson's screenshot submission, I got a great idea for a new event. Flood Zombies -The Event starts like normal, everyone builds a boat. -While in battle round, anyone who dies will turn into a swimming zombie and will respawn somewhere in the bottom of the map and swim up to the other players -Zombies have to jump up onto boats and attack the remaining players. -Zombies take significantly less water damage, do not get randomly pulled down, can swim faster than normal players, but can be killed by guns (Think Zombie Mod in CSS, CS:GO, & TF2 but for Flood) -Normal players still focus on destroying other peoples boats, but will also have to kill zombies that try to jump on their boat and kill them. -Zombies can do damage to boats, but their main focus is to actually attack the players themselves. -Zombies do 5 damage to players and props, but with a cool down of 1-2 seconds before it can hit again. (Again reference Zombie Mod, those zombie hit very slow) -The "E to get on boat" function should be disabled for zombies in favor of a rush function that will push them through the water faster for just a couple seconds. -Zombies get $100 per kill $10 per hit on humans where as Human players get nothing for zombie kills or damage. This is to prevent people from trucing to farm zombie kills and staying focused on getting money from destroying boats. -The more players that die, the more chaotic it gets for the survivors. This could be great to develop for Halloween coming up in a few months and if it's a good hit, possibly used year round as a random event. I am of course welcome to ideas or changes, but don't make them to drastic that would take away from the idea. I want that feeling of people being terrified of a zombie just popping up out of the water and attacking them.
If this idea do come alive, I would hope that the zombies die easily and can't destroy boats. If the zombies can do 5 damage to the props, then people could still truce and tell a team mate to die and attack a boat that is far away. I would suggest to take this feature out, and just do damage for humans. I am also suggesting to make the zombie hits slow, and do 5 damage. I don't want the zombie to hit fast to, because that would make them op. You could make them wait like 1 second before each hit. Other than that, I really love this idea.
That was the idea in the first place, zombies would deal little damage to players. So one zombie would be easy to deal with, but like in any zombie situation, the more there are the harder it is to deal with it. So 5 damage with a 1-2 second cool down seems fair considering the high fire rate of most weapons. As far as prop damage, I don't think it will be that big of a deal if the cool down is still in effect.
Like the suggestion already made about pirate rounds, players should be given money as they damage players not on last hit. In order to avoid people trying to last hit or living players jumping into the water to avoid giving people anything.
Great idea as always, sir Decap. Why not have zombies throw a few bug baits to make them a bit more effective. Like, has zombies, perhaps.
I agree @Rick. Good idea @Cars856, but I think only one bug bait would be enough on a per round basis. Zombies cant die and get another one. It would be spammed otherwise.
Maybe have it were survivors are all together trying to survive against the zombie team? The zombie team could be pick at random?
Pointless because where would the zombies come from? I don't want someone to start off as a zombie because what are they going to do during build round? Mess with other peoples boats? get bored and leave?
I agree with floppy zombies should only be alowed to damage players. And if a player is in team and then dies becoming a zombie he should be forced out of the team temperaerly like with the team power round.
Making it so zombies only attack players encourage people to build walls around their boat's edges. I already do this, but it will make people actually think about their boats.
Guys, the water will still do damage to zombies just not as much as a human player, so they won't be in the water doing a whole lot of damage to these props. Causing them not to do damage to props still takes away from the whole panic of zombies in the water. You would only have to worry about zombies when you see them and I don't want that. I want people to constantly be looking around while they are shooting boats looking out for zombies. Honestly though I would like @Donkie to give his two cents on whether or not he is interested in coding this. Zombies will more than likely be a "team" of players anyway, I see no reason why the players wont be forced out of a team when they become a zombie.
I was debating whether they should have more hp or not. I don't want them to be killed instantly, but at the same time, the shotgun is the only weapon that can do that.
Seems like an half-easy thing to code, most of these features already exist in the code, except for perhaps the "press E to push forward" You mentioned "Not get randomly pulled down", that's a bug.
Well when that happens, I always see fish around me or the person being pulled down. So I figured that it was coded to have fish "pull" people down randomly. If that happens a bunch to zombies, it's going to get really annoying. Other than that, I'm glad to hear your interest in it. I think this would be great if we could have it by October. I was thinking green Kleiners based off of Dawsons load screen, but we could find a few zombie player models or you could suggest some and post the links here.
Are we looking to have several different zombie models or just one? If we want a couple, I believe the following addon contains various Citizen zombies that can be easily rigged. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=127538369&searchtext=Zombie I'll post more ideas when I have additional time.
I don't like these, they were half ass made. I was thinking more like: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=152529683 which are basically the same zombies used in Zombie Mod with a few extra ones.
Oh. I recalled seeing the contents a while ago, but for the time being I will not be able to view them myself because Garry's Mod and everything else is uninstalled. The apparent lack of pride that the uploader has with presenting the original creator's content also didn't help my judgment. Sorry about that.
