We currently have three American servers and two European servers. This would mainly apply for the American servers I guess and implementing this for the European servers is up to everyone else. Making a level cap server which makes you only be a certain level to play on. I used to play on the game mode Hunger Games and they had a good rank up system. They had a bunch of servers on one of the servers was dedicated for the newer players (Exceptions are staff) and the rest were for regular players. If we did something like this, or at least had a server for people with a higher level it would be fair for the new players and give the older players more of a challenge. Some people get on having no idea what to do and stand no chance because a team of 3 level 100s are killing them every round for like 3 rounds, then the new guy leaves. Fix this by either getting a new server, or taking the 3rd American server (Which in my opinion is typically always empty) and make it either a rookie server or a veteran server. What the exact rank you would need to be to play on the server is not up to me. Maybe 50 or 60 if you decided it was for veterans and maybe 20 is the maximum if we created a rookie server. This is just a idea and while the current formula is working well, this new idea could get things to be even better for everyone. As for the European servers, you could either keep things how they are, add a extra one with the level requirement (If passed), or make one of the current ones a level requirement one.
I think its a good idea because it would be a lot more competitive. Just wanted to make a quick note on levels though. Levels aren't based on skill and they don't effect how the gameplay works. They are just something so that you can compare yourself to others. 3 lv 100 players wrecking the server won't change. There will always be dominant teams especially if you know how skilled your teammates are.
Yes you did make a good point that level does not mean skill. But higher levels mean more playing time, and more playing times equals better weapons and better experience, and the more experience leads to better skills compared to a beginner. But you understand that.
Yeah, I do realize more playtime and better weapons does pose a significant difference if you compare it to someone who only played a few hours. I just wanted to make that clear to anyone who didn't know.
I agree that we should have one server become a 'veteran' server for players level 60 an above, but I don't think we should have a rookie player server for players level 20 and below. If we had a rookie server for players twenty and below AND a veteran server for level 60 and above, that would be taking up two of the three servers. More and more the servers have been starting to get full, and I believe that if we took two of the servers and did that with them, the most played server would be the one open to players of all level, and if that one and the rookie server got full, we would be losing players who are new, although this isn't super likely to happen, I think we should stick with just the veteran server to be safe. The Veteran server would make the game much more fun and more competitive for may veteran players!
I don't think having a rookie server would be a great idea but having one ranked server for higher ranked people could work. I think it should be level 55+ that way we could get quite a few people on it. It should also be available for both EU and US players so both playerbases can access it. (EU players can't see US servers for some reason)
US players can't see EU servers either, however, this problem is easily fixed by pressing f4 in game, getting on the US or EU servers, and then accessing them through you history.
I have complete support for this as I have been campaigning for a ranked server for awhile now, I even mentioned it in Jeff's thread.
I actually played yeseterday at like 1am and almost everyone who was online was a really low level I think that it's a good idea +1
