Today, after watching an anime at 3 AM I've checked the #flood_suggestions and seen cozy talking about new players not enjoying the gamemode. Since I'm pretty new to the this gamemode and I still remember what issues I had, I can suggest those couple changes: Let's talk about your start as a new player. You're thrown into an unfamiliar gamemode which requires you to build boats. You do exactly that. It may be clumsy, but it works. Then you see 10 players shooting rpg at each other, shotguns, AK47s, the SG rifle demolishing each other's boats. After that mess, you gain a little profit. Then you see magical "Weapons" tab and you have a question: "What should I buy?". Yes there are stats of ammo and damage, but how does it behave? What is the recoil? What is the accuracy of the weapon? Because of that, most people just randomly pick their first weapon and loose nearly all of the money they had and of course when you dont have the dosh you cant build a boat. So they leave. Idea: Make an option for players to "try" or "rent" a weapon. The ways it can be implemented are different. If going with "trying" version: Give to a player the weapon they desire for 1-5 rounds, then take it away and do 3 round (15 minute) cooldown before trying another weapon. If going with "renting" version: Make players pay 1/Xth amount of money for the weapon they pay and give them for a certain amount of rounds, lets say 5. Then, take it away, no cooldowns. EDIT: I forgot to add that you shouldn't be able to try or rent RPG/Golden gun in this case since both of them are pretty much straight forward. Put the new option above and possible mark the text with green/yellow color. Explanations for newcomers: Make a small chatbox with explanations of gamemode in a nutshell for people that are joining the server for the first time. Thats it! Because not everyone sees a small box with timer that says "Build a boat".
This is a great idea. I would definitely want them to pay a fraction of the price since no weapons are the same in how good they are. Imagine giving someone a shotgun for free vs giving someone a galil. Or a para vs a fiveseven. These are vastly different weapons and should be treated as such.
I really like this idea, but maybe we could rework it a bit. I’d suggest making the cooldown longer (like one day) and instead of making them pay to rent, they can try it out for free except the profit is marginally less so it encourages people to actually buy the weapon instead of using it daily. Otherwise I’ll definitely want to see this in game, anything to make the newcomers enjoy the mode even more!
This is a very good suggestion, especially when we consider adding high tier-related weapons (over 45k value).
