Accepted Flood Names

I believe players should be able to change their names. The concept works like the /rpname in DARKRP but put in flood. Example if this was added to the server I could change my name what I would like to be known as on flood and wouldn't need to change my steam name to do it. I usually change my name back in forth but I think this would be a pretty cool thing to add.

Hope you take this into consideration.

 

Well im sure you could limit the amount of name changes like make it 1 or 2 every 24 hours

 

The only point of this that I see is that you would be able to put color tags in your name, but that's all I see. I don't see any other practical use.

 

Well that could be one point but I would like to be known as someone else on the flood servers than who I am on steam. Such as my forum name I would like to make it in game instead of having to change my steam name.

 

I, on my opinion, I think this would be great, no also the fact that my steam name is changed weekly so people don't recognize me but also if I want a color name my steam name doesn't need to look dumb like "[red] example", and also it won't take much work as its used on most roleplaying mods in Gmod.. Great idea!

There is a con though, when for example making a ban request a "fake" name would appear instead of the original person's name...

 

There's no character structure to the game that you would need a name, this is just kind of a "build stuff sink others" game. Names would just confuse people and probably be very unused except for what Noriaki said above.

 

This isn't needed as I think it would cause more issues than anything. Just take the few seconds to change it in steam if you need a new name so badly.

 

Well you could limit it to like maybe a name change per week thus making it no problem.

 

Still, what is the point of having something change your name when you can do it in steam already within 30 seconds? seems like a waste of time to code that imo.

 

Well instead of having to go back & forth decap you could just simply have 1 semi or permanent name change. I see where you're coming from why do something that could be done on your own. Simply because some players may not want to change their names on steam back and forth. Example for myself I would use this I could add color to my new name and could still keep the steam name I enjoy.

 

Settings. Why should you have to buy something like that?

 

In this case, Let's do what I suggested an make it part of the VIP benefits. They can purchase VIP and have a setting to change the color of their name without having to do it to their name in steam.

 

Or we make some "name editor" where you can apply colors to your steamname.

Solves the problem for everyone, people can't change names but they can still have colors ingame and don't need the pesky tags out of game.

 

I believe adding this to VIP features is a really great idea. It could possibly give people more reasons to donate thus helping the server more.

 

It would but it would also make all non-VIP players a little angry, VIPs already have many benefits, of course people with VIP would agree with this as they don't have to pay any additional money. Instead we can make non-VIP change only its colour while VIP could change their name and have some more colours like purple, blue or others but there are not so much colours to lock ones so it would be easy to make colours for your name be buyable with tokens at the store, but also coming with a free one like red or something, this can bring more donors too as they can pay with real money to get tokens as they are expensive...

 

Why would that make them angry? It just adds to the benefit of donating.

 

Because people want what they can have, its common psycology, some of them maybe not, but after a time playing with a regular user you want more to buy or upgrade....
