Counter Strike Global Offensive has one of the greatest money making scams in the history of video games. You get cases by playing the game and the cases are generally a few cents, the keys are what makes it a scam. You can open these cases with the key you buy for 2.49 and when you open the case with the key, you will get a random skin. The skin has no baring on the competitive level, it just looks cool. These skins become collector items, and people love to collect. The prize possession in CSGO cases are the knifes you could get, all of which have different designs. Garry's Mod has two addons, 1 addon being the case addon. You receive cases and you open them for a knife, implemented into Flood could make the game a lot more competive and interesting. This would add a reward for winning rounds and make the game more competitive overall. Once you receive a case, you can either sell the case for 1k or open the case with a key that should be priced around 5-10k. When opening the case a bunch of knife skins will go by and which ever knife the spinner lands on, is your new knife skin. You will be able to access your case by using /unbox. You are also able to give your cases to other players. The knife itself is not the best weapon ever. The weapon will be equal to a crowbar but the bragging rights of having a cool knife is what will draw players in. A ton of servers have the knife addons, even if we do not do the Unbox addon, adding in the knifes could draw a lot of players. Not every knife has to be earn able from unboxing, listed below are a bunch of alternatives to being able to get knife skins Purchasing them from the point shop. A reward for donating. A reward for earning achievements. A reward for playing a certain amount of time on the server. A reward for spending a certain amount of time on the forums.
Sorry derf i'm not a fan of CS:Go and I don't think we should try to implement something as sketchy as loot crates. Look at all the head CSGO has been getting lately in terms of betting and online youtubers. I do think we should add betting but not CSGO related.
So you want to add betting on who will win a match? One thing CSGO got hate for but not case unboxing which CSGO got no hate for. The in game crates are all in game money and the skins won are not sell able in real life like CSGO skins.
Betting in game money is fine for what player will win the round and such or a team. We shouldn't bite off the success of another company's game features. It just doesn't feel like we are trying to be original.
Not everything we need to implement into the game needs to be original. I understand you disagree with unboxing which is your opinion. I respect that, I just don't want to spam this thread with a conversation about CSGO gambling. While I disagree with your main argument point of why we should not have unboxing. Its an opinion.
Sounds pretty fun! Wouldn't want to turn new players away though with the thought that it's a money scam server.
