This is a thread where we share our desktops. Of course I couldn't be normal so I'm testing SteamOS at the moment:

Your resolution is so small, brings me back to Windows '98 days.

I did and it's still smaller than my secondary monitor. Here's my home PC:

    Your resolution is still tiny.
It looks that way because I'm running the SteamOS Beta at the moment; which is based on Linux Debian. There's actually even less stuff on my Windows desktop though. I'll post a screenshot of it next time I boot back into it.

    edit: Here's my Windows desktop:

Yeah generally that's how I like to keep it. Here's my Ubuntu desktop:

I'll admit that it's a fresh install on my new mITX build. So I can't be deemed totally obsessive this time. I've always liked the way Ubuntu looks right out of the box as opposed to other OS though; probably because I do like minimalism.

So you currently have three operating systems. Which of the three do you generally use the most? For gaming?

For the average consumer SteamOS is impractical at the moment, but it's good for the living room environment and actively being developed. Ubuntu is great from the little that I've seen; it's the current 'long term support' distro of Linux. We run our server on Linux CLI . It's an excellent free open source alternative to Windows.

With all that said I haven't had enough experience gaming with anything but Windows to say which is the 'better' experience; but, currently Windows has far greater support for games than any other OS. Regardless, they each serve a different purpose so it just depends what suits you. I think most people will say they're happy with Windows. I like to think support for Linux in the near future will snowball but it's hard to say.
