What do you guys think of adding connect sounds for VIP & Staff? Connect sounds are short sound clips that will play when you connect to the server. This usually would come with a notification in chat "_____ has connected to the server". The sound clip cannot be longer than 10 seconds and sounds would have to go through an approval process. I think @Donkie could whip up something easy for Admins to access on the forums, maybe have a list of VIPs and staff that have sounds and a way to add these sounds similar to how we add bans. I could set up a sticky thread for connect sound approvals. The thread would have a specific template they would have to use with a link to the sound on mediafire or maybe even a youtube link (all depending on how Donkie would prefer it). The connect sounds can only be changed once a week (less or even at all?) to prevent clutter and workload on the admins who approve them. Players can opt to turn off their connect sounds in the settings menu in-game.
I'm not against the idea so please don't get the wrong impression but why? Staff already have an exclusive tag both in chat and on the scoreboard. I'm just unsure why you'd want to add a sound too.
There is no matter of need except that it might bring in more VIPs. Staff only get it because you get all of the benefits of VIP when you become Staff anyway. So this is just a perk nothing more.
Great idea. It should only echo clientside whoever donated for bronze and above. Warm welcome for players eh? When a player connects to the server, it should make a sound for all players. (In my own opinion.)
Okay that makes sense. I just wasn't sure why. I think its a pretty cool idea considering VIP's don't really get much as it is and with it being monitored I don't really see any way it can be abused
Thanks for mentioning this because that makes me want to put a limit on how often the sound will be played (say once every hour) so that if people do this their sound won't play again for another hour.
