Build Round: Everyone has access to thrusters. Battle Round: Once the round starts, players will see a "Checkpoint" randomly appear somewhere on the map. Players must reach the checkpoint for the next one to show up. Clearing a checkpoint awards $100. The main objective is to race to the checkpoints, however some limited weapons will be available such as Bugbait, grenades, and the harpoon. The first checkpoint is random, but the 2nd checkpoint would need a max distance from the previous checkpoint to appear. This is to prevent checkpoints from appearing on the other side of the map all the time. There would also need to be a minimum distance to prevent the next checkpoint from appearing right next to where the previous one was. Checkpoints only show from the players perspective what they have completed. If a player has gone through a checkpoint, that checkpoint is still there for players that have not gone through it yet and will be until they clear it. However the next checkpoint will be in the same location for everyone, each player does not have their own checkpoints to clear.
I like the idea of having a "boat race" so that everyone can go through checkpoints and such, it will definitely bring in some new variety to the Flood gameplay. However, don't you think some players may exploit the thrusters to float their boats and break the rules? Furthermore, I think that the harpoon should still be available for all users in the event that "they didn't place their thrusters" or if someone destroyed their thrusters.
Thrusters have been edited so that they can only push forward and side to side but not up or down. Harpoon was stated to stay as one of the weapons. Players could alternatively use the boat motor instead of thrusters, but we would need to edit it so that the motor would go much faster than it currently does.
This seems cool but I think going for the actual checkpoints should be encouraged rather than killing other players. 1. I was thinking having the actual checkpoints award you something that actually benefits your survival, perhaps like a healing stick or one rpg round. I don't really think I would go out in the open and let myself get bombarded on with all the others going to the checkpoint from one guy throwing a grenade, just for $100 which I could make anyway. 2. Perhaps make the props health significantly stronger, requiring you to go get checkpoints to get higher tier weapons to do significant damage to enemy boats. 3. Going along with the checkpoint awards idea, maybe ammo should be limited and checkpoints also reward ammo. 4. Maybe an award or achievement for going through the most checkpoints in a boat race round?
They could have 2 thrusters on the back and each of them on the sides. They only need to use W A and D key (or Up, Left, Right | 8, 4, 6 | etc.)
You can also move your boat just by your movement. Just crouch and hold alt then use your movement keys. Fire Extinguisher also helps as well.
Another good way is if you have something welded onto your boat that will restrict your actual movement in a certain direction. Pushing towards this prop will push your boat in the direction.
I think this is a good idea! Good- The other events are about attacking people, this event could possibly not be a fighting round, just a fun one! Problems- One problem could possibly be that some people will have a bigger advantage as they will be closer to checkpoints, i'm sure this can be fixed as its very minor, this is still a great idea!!!
+1 remember people could also make some pretty interesting boats. Also opens a door for creativity. But I think the map should be bigger for this type of event.
