I was playing on the server, having some fun with riley. When the build phase started my screen was all blue! My Physgun was invisible. When I held left mouse button, it shot out a beam like the normal, But when I let go of the left mouse button, strange hands appeared. It was very annoying to build without seeing the physgun, but amazing that I saw dirty hands xD. How come it was like this?

I'd say Firedraft's response has no merit, but coincidentally this is one of those nuances that I don't know the source of. I have witnessed this bug first hand though (no pun intended), so it's not isolated.

Might be a graphical problem that could be fixed by starting to record a demo. Occasionally graphical issues like this can be fixed by recording a demo, but not always. So just start recording then stop, even better if you bind record/stop to a key for each. If that doesn't work, just reconnect.
