Have you ever been sitting on your boat, looking up as a rocket flew by and wondered; "Look how majestic that rocket is, I wish I could fly around like that." Well now you can. With Devinity's very own Jetpack 9000, you can fly around just like that rocket you always wanted to be. Equipping a jetpack during battle round will allow you to briefly fly into the air and reign terror upon your enemies. Ideally, the jetpack will activate once holding space after jumping. Flight time varies depending on how quickly the fuel is used, maximum of 10 seconds flight time. a fuel meter will be on your hud showing how much fuel you have left. Watch out for fall damage. Cannot be used during build round The jetpack fuel will recharge but very slowly at a rate of 1 minute before being able to be used again. A hefty price tag, jetpacks aren't cheap son. Store price: $500k + 50 tokens You can buy extra charge packs in the store. These charge packs will give you a quick 5 second recharge after your fuel is depleted. They can only be used one time and you can only own one at a time, so you must purchase another from the store after using the one you own. Store price $5000 per charge pack. Also very useful during the Pirate event, team event, or for getting between two boats so you don't get hurt by the water.
There has to be some form of penalty for using it. Get hurt when you activate it? Activating it in water gets you hurt more than above? Players can shoot you down before the time runs out? Charge packs can be destroyed? That's all I can think of.
Fall Damage seems to be the best route. The higher up you go go, the more damage you take. If you fall in the water it will be the same principle. The higher up you go, the farther down in the water you will fall. Besides I'm not expecting it to be a breeze to handle either. More than likely people will have to struggle to stay in place. They won't be flying straight up in a line.
Very much don't like the idea of "flying", I'm down with having jetpacks that sort of increase jumping so that you can jump from boat to boat. But having actual flight will definitely be broken. Have it like rockets in that you just set a trajectory and get launched like a mofo (Maybe with a little less velocity)
Ok maybe it's not worded that well but even the way I worded it should still get my point across. You won't actually be "flying" because there is a very small amount of fuel. If you hold down Space then yeah you will go up in the air but in doing so you won't even be able to reach the invisible ceiling before running out of fuel. But say you did just hold it and go as far up as you can, when you fall you could either land on your boat and take a lot of fall damage, or land in the water and go really far down thus getting a lot of damage from the water. I'd say it would even itself out while giving the players something fun with risk involved. Plus at the hefty price tag not everyone will have it but many will want to save up to get it.
I feel like it should be like say the deathrun servers have it just an extra jump boost or something and the price should not be 500k i feel like thats to much
If we're going to introduce a jetpack to Flood, additional precautions should be set to prevent it from becoming too overpowered.
1) I initially based this off the jetpack from Gmod Tower which you don't need hands to use and is just a small little jetpack on your back. Your idea would cause the jetpack to be a weapon of sorts that you have to equip to use. I wanted to leave room for people to screw up however. I don't want the jetpack to be perfect for a reason and that is so that people will have to learn how to use it correctly and even after they do it will be difficult to use. I'm up to change that however based on community feedback. 2) How about when in water the jetpack doesn't refuel until you get out of the water. Then there is a 5 second delay after you get out of the water before it starts to refuel again. 3) That was the plan to begin with. I don't want people begin able to reach the invisible ceiling so the jetpack must run out of fuel before they get there.
Yes love this idea, very useful if you build multiple boats and leave them further apart having to swim to barley make it gets annoying. if not a jump pack then maybe a health portion regenerates your life up to 50% ?
jetpacks should be able to be shot at so you can fall mid air also if it is exploded on a boat it does damage like a grenade
Generally, it would most likely be exploited though. I am not really into the idea of "jet packs" since it can go hand in hand with sky boats, which isn't really desirable. It's like falling out of your sky boat and using jetpacks to get yourself back on track. If there is going to be an implementation of jetpacks, I would suggest that the duration of the fuel in the jetpack be nerfed as much as possible. It can also be used for delaying rounds, if given full autonomy.
I like this idea quite a lot, but there is something I would like to suggest: How about having a limited amount of fuel that does not recharge? So it's just in case of emergency.
I'm down with just having the jetpack having a certain amount of fuel. Or have a special event where everyone has a jetpack.
