Alright, this is an idea I've had for a few weeks and that is that we would benefit from reaching out to the european players aswell. A current garrysmod limitation is that players can only find servers geographically nearby them, which means that europeans hasn't physically been able to find us. Having a european server can/will let us reach out to a lot more people. (Currently 80% of the active players are americans.) You can find it at 31.186.251.87:27015
Agreed! I'm all in for expanding our consumer base. Perhaps the gift will keep giving as our ties with Europe's player base become more established.
Is it possible for Europeans to connect to the other servers with the Direct Ip? Or do they already find it and this is just to give them better ping. I've kinda always wondered this.
I live in sweden and I can play on the US servers fine, it's just that I can not find them in the serverlist, only in my saved favourites.
^ This. Due to server localization EU players can not see our GMOD server on their list (I think thats how it works anyway). I'm actually glad we have finally opened a server over in the EU because players across the pond really should be able to enjoy our server without the added latency due to distance.
Since the European server probably wont have many people on at the start. Maybe have something that pops up and say "No on one? Don't mind a bit of lag if any at all? Join the U.S server's at <Ip goes here>". Just an idea
As Donkie has mentioned it has to do with your geographical location. If you have trouble locating the US servers you could try the EU server.
I see what you're saying. Regardless this EU server should appear for a much larger EU audience at a lower ping. I think you mean to press f4 in-game to open the server list. If I'm not mistaken.
The reason you saw it sometimes could be that there were less servers nearby at that time, which ment that the master serverlist sent you some more far-away servers to compensate.
There would be like no difference between having a server in the Uk and having one in Sweden or Iceland or something.
