PROPOSAL: Add a feature for Silver and/or Gold rank packages that would allow players to rainbow colorize compatible sections of their models (e.g. clothes, markings, armor, etc.). Bear in mind that its application functions in the same manner as normal player colorization, but with steady animation. PARAMETERS: Rainbow skins would boast tweak-friendly parameters, each having their own value ranges. (1) Random offset? . . . . . Can be toggled [ON] or [OFF] (not sure of exact function) (2) Manual offset . . . . . 0 to 128 (not sure of exact function) (3) Saturation . . . . . 0 to 256 (4) Lightness . . . . . 0 to 256 (5) Animation speed . . . . . 1 to 3 (guarantees subtle, very slow color cycling.) BENEFITS: (1) Would improve content sizes for select VIP packages. Players purchasing them would get a better deal. (2) By coincidence, rainbow skins would sync well with Flood's Rainbow Fezzes. (3) Correct implementation would prevent garnering visual annoyance issues. SOURCE MATERIAL: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=300157997
Whenever there's something that makes boats stand out more, I want it. I also want rainbow money pallets.
Looks like an eyesore in my opinion, the unsaturated colours look so painful, I don't want to see loads of flashing boats all over the place as they change colors and shit
It's NOT for boats. It's for player models and possibly Physics Guns. The pulse rate of the color animations isn't going to be flying at 50 cycles per second.
Ah sorry I didn't understand because you stited the OP and made it more complicated than it should've been (Reread it now). But yeah having it for playermodels makes it even less appealing to me as you begin to see blobs of cycling colours shooting at you, I can get behind Pysguns, Gravguns ect though, that seems like it wouldn't look too awful and could be used as a small perk by VIPS.
'Fraid I can't do much for you. Sorry. Again, the speed parameters I have in mind for pulse rate will prevent color transitions from cycling too quickly. I did my homework via experimentation well before deciding whether or not to continue investing time into the skin concept.
Okay, then. In that case let's try being more constructive: What better ideas do you have in mind for improving VIP bundles, both by content bulk and quality? What will it take to convince more consumers that purchasing Gold over Silver, for example, would be worth their while and funds? Please direct all new considerations into their own threads.
What the fuck are you talking about? This isn't a thread for discussing benefits for VIP users, this is a thread discussing an awful looking colour thing...
Always with the good ideas. Glad to see a very committed person to Devinity. Well done again, Dawson!
Unfortunately I feel that the concept for rainbow coloration would not translate very well with props. We already have a static rainbow material* for that. *Which also lightly resembles (1) the visual effect of light being reflected from a thin oil slick, or (2) bubble reflections. That means a lot, Cars. Thank you very much! If you or anyone else have other ideas about adding more VIP content, then you're free to chat with me and/or create your threads about them.
UPDATE: Looked back at the opening post's presentation and thought it could be done a lot better. Details have been reworded in favor of more succinctness and clarity. Apologies for any confusion with regard to HOW rainbow skins would be implemented. Rather than affecting the entirety of a model, only specific sections such as armor and clothing pieces or markings would receive the color pulse animation.
