* * * Loading screen slideshow (for displaying user-created screenshots from Garry's Mod) * * * Out with the old, in with the new as some would say.... Let's give the loading screen interface a fresh new look. Instead of displaying those fuzzy-looking stock-images (the ones that look like odd landscapes), how about introducing a mini slideshow that showcases user-created screenshots/scenes made in Garry's Mod? Anyone wanting to participate would need to meet the following guidelines--they're simple and few, though! All submissions would also need to be posted on the forum before being green-lighted for the loading screen slideshow. This feature could help gear lurkers and newcomers toward becoming more open/active with the community and server activities.
*Still on about preventing prop farming* How about nullifying the damage done to dead props? Players are still able to destroy dead props, but the damage done will not add to total props destroyed and damage for that round. Dead players may or may not get the full refund... I'm not sure about that. Sidenote: On the forums, the devinity logo is a bit difficult to see. Perhaps change the colours of the letters, like the green on the server's player list.
On a serious note, we should add the newton launcher from TTT. It will push people off thier boats, but should have a long recharge time or just very limited ammo. I can't find it in the workshop, but it is a typical traitor weapon in TTT.
I guess I never realised how much money farming is done, is nulling the damage to props without any owner a good way to fix it?
I would say so, but at the same time people could hide behind dead peoples props, I do it all the time as an extra defense.
We should turn server 3 into our beta server. Roll out new ideas into that server first to see how well they do before pushing it out to the other ones. Just big updates though, not small ones.
* * * Feeding Frenzy (a new special round) * * * Have you ever wanted to play as Prionace glauca? Ever fancied the idea of swimming around, dismantling boats and eating people (please say "No" to the latter)? If you answered yes to any of the above, then I have an idea for a new special round: Let's call it Feeding Frenzy! The beginning segments of Feeding Frenzy play out as any normal battle round would. As combatants start dying off, though, the blood-contaminated waters will begin attracting sharks! While only a few will be around during the beginning, the sharks' numbers will continue to multiply--much so to the point of forming a lethal man-eating shoal in later stages. All boats and humans are at risk of being ripped to shreds. Link to P. glauca model: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=124240298
Way ahead of you. I've got info lined up that's laying stagnant in the Perk Thread. Abraca-Copy-'n'-Paste! ------------------------------------ Link to P. glauca model: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=124240298 Ignore the fact that the addon is a weapon--it's there as a means of getting to the model. I would use some of PirateCatty's content, but unfortunately he "croaked" at some point and all of his workshop submissions vanished with him. Not only that, but he doesn't want anyone else reuploading them either. It's a shame because he rigged models for hammerheads, great whites, and other shark species. We're stuck with the above because it's the smallest shark that's available Wonderful mentality, eh? If you're going down, may as well slap embargoes on existing copies of your content commissioned FOR the community.
Recently, a boat sharked on a team round and caused an unbelievable amount of lag, which also caused the timer to run very slowly. We need a command that refunds and removes a player's props in order to remove the sharking props, thus eliminating the lag. We don't want one boat to ruin the fun to the rest of the players. I would like this command instead of kicking them and having them to rejoin the server. Usage rules: If it causes intense lag, we'll use that command asap. But if it causes minor lag, we'll only use it if the props are flying around the map as a hazard to players. But really, it's up to the staff's decision whether or not to use the command. This also brings up the bug where you cannot see the props' owner. I'm pretty sure that it is client-side though. I'm not exactly sure of what causes the boat to shark, but it usually happens whenever multiple players try to move the boat or it hits the wall/ceiling. Right now I don't know how to prevent this from happening.
When the props fly all over the place and the only way to stop it is to delete the props. Also when props glitch at spawn, which strains the server.
Ah, Yes. I feel as there needs to be a command like !removeprop name. When a whole team creates a long box boat and someone comes along and nudges it, It causes It to "shark". "Sharking" is what most people do to crash the servers. Like yesterday, I either had to kick a whole team, whom where not doing anything wrong, or let the server crash. :\ I'm sure it wouldnt be that hard to !removeprop since darkrp has it.
We do have a command that clears props but the thing is that it clears ALL props, not just specific ones. The only other way I know of clearing one individuals props is to kick that person or they leave the server, we don't want to have to resort to doing either of these things. @Dr. Pit Lazarus please make a thread in bug reports and maybe we can come up with a way for mods to clear these sharked props outside of build round.
