I think being able to gamble cash away in flood would be neat. You could just bet X amount on a team/player, depending on if they win you get your cash back, if you bet on a team and the team wins you will only receive 50% percent + what you bet initially (So if you bet 5000 you would get 7500 back). If you bet on a solo player (like yourself) You get 100% back + what you bet initially. If your prediction is wrong you lose your initial bet. Betting capped at 25000? Could be tokens too (If that would make it easier)
Likely the reason that we've never devised such a feature is that it can be exploited like mad. Rigging isn't going to be out of peoples' heads.
You're probably the 100th person to suggest this quite honestly. In the future, search to make sure no ones suggested it already. Other than that I agree with dawson, exploition would be huge and I don't think it really has a place in a gamemode like Flood to begin with.
I think that when it would be implemented, maybe you could only bet on yourself. Therefore you wouldn't intentionally not hit someone, you'd just bet on yourself because you truly think you/your team would win. Then it couldn't really be abused. Now, if there was only 2 people on the server and they were like taking turns or something yeah but we can't account for everything. If you're alone you can break all the rules and no one would know.
As a gambler at heart I love the idea, but I don't know how to stop abuse like @Dawson mentioned. A lottery/luck based system would be more realistic.
If you really wanted gambling you could just do a system with RNG. It'd be less interesting but couldn't be exploited. Crates in Flood for random skins when?
The gamble machanic could be nice if it had a like 40% winrate set or like 30% winrate so it'd be risky to bet a lot and most of the time you lose. But still it seems abusable and if money was only used for accessories and not like weapons(pred missle) it wouldn't be that bad to have in the game. I don't like the idea of having a gamble tool in-game, seems like too much work for Donkie/Bayrock for something everyone will forget about and rarely use.
I like the idea, Mabye to stop the abuse you're only allowed to gamble before the rounds starts, and there need to be a minimum of 10players on the server. You can also mabye make something completely diffrent, like a coinflip you can do between each player, 50/50 chance to win. That way it cant be abused.
If you ever do add a gambling system the gambling limit should be 1,000-5,000 then what you should do is add a player limit to begin gambling such as 15 players so if you bet it will randomly select 1 person of the 15 players to place it on removing a major aspect of abuse such as players betting all of there money on a person and letting them win because if other players bet they might end up betting on someone else.
To avoid exploitation we could use a pot. Money bet = Money out I.e All wrong bets are split between winners 8 players bet $1000 on team A 1 player bets $20000 on team A 1 player bets $6000 on player B Total prize pool for this round => 34000 Spoiler Team A wins The $34000 is split proportionally between those who bet on team A (Total of 28000 bet on A) 1000/28000 = 1/28th of 34000 = $1214 (Profit of 214 for a safe bet) The other player that bet $20000 took much more of a risk, so he gets 20/28ths of the pool = $24285 (Profit of 4285 for a slightly riskier bet) Player 1 loses all their bet Spoiler Player B wins The player was the only one who took a fairly risky bet, they get the entire prize pool of $34000 for $28000 profit. All the other players lose their bet Spoiler Player C wins All players lose their bet If nobody bet on anybody other than a single player, players should have their money returned even if that player lost Payout = (Total bets)*(Player's bet)/(Other bets on same player)[/spoiler]
Only thing is, if I am tue only person to bet on team C and I bet 1,000, I could profit 31000 for little risk.
That's not a problem, the overwhelming consensus in this scenario is that team A will win. Serves them right for putting so much unnecessary faith in a team that gets beaten by the underdogs. If people weren't so sure that team A would win, then the prize pool would be much smaller (And you wouldn't win 31000), probably maximum a few thousand. You may think it's a safe bet, but if you keep doing it over and over again then overall you'll lose money. I gave an extreme example above to show how this system isn't riggable, it's more likely that players will place their bets much more evenly.
there is no way around the abuse and rigging, which would lead to starters with more money than anyone else and really there isn't much way this would work. BUT say in a world where it could work well i would love it.
I'm so tired of people suggesting this over and over again. Even if this was implemented, after two weeks nobody would use it anymore, which is what happens to 95% of the servers.
