We will start from the 9,10,13,17,18,22,27,28 portion. Firstly, the function starts by adding 1 automatically. Now add 3. Simple. Now add 1 more to the previous number which you added after 1. So now add 4. You get 17, then add 1. 18. Now add the previous number before you had added 1. So add 4, now you have 22. Now add 1 to the previous number you have added; it would be 5 you are adding now. So now, 27, add 1 28. Now add 5 due to it being the previous number you have added before you added that 1. So add 5, 33. Now add 6, 39. Add 1, 40. Add 6, 46, add 7 53. Evidence: The beginning portion is a bit confusing but I will break it down how it works. Adding the -1 makes you see it a bit better. So, it would be -1+ 1 due to it being the 1 that always is added. So -1,0,1,3?? How'd it jump to 3? Well, using the pattern: -1+1 (1 always added) You get 0. Now the pattern starts with +1 you get 1. Then +2 due to adding 1 to the previous number which we add to 1- using this gives us 3. Then the pattern moves on.
