Those lovely pings

    This needs to be addressed as it's always a problem with a full server. With 28 players, there are a lot of props being spawned. Then the water rising causes even more strain. Everyone's pings just go haywire for the first minute, then it starts to calm down once some props are destroyed.

    What can be done to improve this? Better servers?​

    This has always been an issue since day one. Maybe increase the prep round or limit explosives for 30 seconds.

    Yeah and the ping makes my fps go to 1 sometimes.....
    like usually I have 200+ but with a full server when the water starts to rise lag of death not sure what you're shooting at lol.

    This is incredibly hard for the mods that are far away from EU or US such as me. Sometimes the ping in building stage with nothing going on can get to 300. Its unbearable. Buuuuuut I doubt there are any real fixes for this by the server. Correct me if im wrong.

    Yeah I know it's always been an issue but from my knowledge we've never explored ways of fixing or at least improving it. The only thing that comes close was a short discussion about reducing the max players to like 20 or something.

    I don't think it is that big of a deal. Most likely, it is due to a player/team's boat, spazzing out causing it to lag.

    No it happens every time the water comes up. I look around and no boats are spazzing out.

    Why don't you just decrease the length of the build phase or limit the amount or props you're able to spawn based on the amount of people on the server?

    People would complain too much. Maybe a cool down on certain weapons or secondary weapons or increasing the prep phase might help.

    Not much can be done other than lowering prop limit or player slots.

    There is some variables that tune how much time is spent on calculating physics that might/will decrease lag, with the cost of more players falling through props and other glitchy shit.

    I think we should just lower the player limit to 20. The only downside I've heard is that it somehow makes us look inferior to SS. I don't get how making a change for the better makes us inferior. We have 5 servers, 20 players per server is 100 players at a time. Maybe we should better incorporate a way or show people the way better than we do now for switching to our other servers. Server 2 somehow stays mostly empty, which is a mystery to me, even when server 1 and 3 is full. So if we could find a way to redistribute players better to all servers, that would keep people from freaking out over a lower player limit.

    Exactly my point, they probably have the same problem as us. They only have 2 servers so they can't afford to reduce their player count.

    @Donkie Forgot to mention that constraints also cause a lot of this lag as well.

    I honestly believe that smart weld has a lot to do with the amount of lag the server gets. Smart weld welds all props to all props. With 28 people, this can easily be thousands of constraints.

    You guys should remove it on US1/EU1 for 24 hours and moniter it.

    The weld-distance thing should have reduced welds already.
