Sort of falls into line with world news, in that the following is a retrospective on why the reputation and atrocities of Communism have remained relatively obscured for decades. Both Nazism and Communism are fundamentally heinous, but the latter is like a cockroach: it is a highly competent vector of 'disease' and cannot be easily eradicated.

Ok, this shouldn't be here. Its not even a good idea to post such things.
Like... im greatly offended. For comparing two separate, unequal things.
And if you dont want to start a "holy war" and... i dunno... drama - you better delete this. Please.

I don't think you quite grasp what @Dawson was going for here. He's not directly trying to insult Russians. One major point is just that everyone sees Hitler as a monster for killing 6 million jews, which he may very well be, but Stalin killed millions more than Hitler of his won people.

I wonder if this thread was inspired by the chat in discord earlier...

I asked my mom earlier today if there were any wehrmacht in my family and she got a little triggered, mainly because I was asking in a way that seemed like I wanted there to be someone who was (and I do), but she doesn't know. I've tried to do some digging myself but it seems that I'll never find out :frown2:

With the exception of privately contacting a peer, I have not been on Discord for the day. No: That video played no influence in bringing up this thread; it was pure coincidence.

As Wolfgang also pointed out, too, I had--and still have--no intention to insult or oust anybody.

Whether or not the above video unintentionally 'triggers' anybody for whatever reason, I'm not going to retreat under a rock because of it. There's been enough going on in the States with regards to suppressing the right to freedom of speech, regardless of political background and everything else under the sun. This is especially the case in 'Berserkeley,' California, where "Anti-Fascists" will tear you a new one for expressing a differing opinion and standing by it. To them it's like they're embracing Leftist ideology so tightly that it's starting to become reminiscent to an actual 'religion' (albeit an atheistic + radically progressive + socialist one at that). I say this because, akin to any ordinary religious belief system, you just don't try to rationalize/contend/validate/verify - not without looking like a heretic.*

    ______________________

*Pondering about this is also intriguing because at the moment, coincidentally, I am taking a religious studies course that analyzes worldviews about religion and science.

    Noted. Forgiven.

Now, there are many reasons I dont like this exact "finding" and (as you all may see) reply's for it.

First: Historical error, brought by that man in the video.
I could bring lots and lots of facts and historical events from many historical books (or even from my gram's\gramp's stories) that will bring you a different picture about "Communism" or USSR times. The main point of it was brought by Lenin FIRST, to struck down the burguasia from its place and create a one whole piece, where everyone lives at peace, in prosperity and "national" friendship. Its still holds, believe it or not. Also, Stalin's dictatorship is, beyond the point, terrible, but that was happening in the days of War. Sacrifices MEANT to happen at such times. Deserteers, traitors and such stuff... Also, Everyone remembers Lenin and Stalin, but nobody cares about Carl Marx and Brejnev - another big and bright figures of USSR. And... its a diffirent story for another page of text. Do you research, if you will.

Second: Bringing Nazism as a topic.
Bringing any theme of Nazism its not a major rule (forums and Flood alike), but it still... kind of a... has its limits. Spreading minor knowledge about it, like "Hitler had testicular cancer" - fine. But making a whole research - its over the line. Oh, and remember that "Its a sign of a sun, not a swastika" deal we had a while ago? When I banned 2 kids for that? THEY were going over the line. So lets not step on that pathway again. Please.

Third: Its not a "World News" kind of topic.
These are now News. There is nothing scientific about it. Its just a theory (or something from that kind).
Move it to the Off-Topic, if you agree with this. It will move away all its seriousness.

Also, please, dont stain our grandfathers names by joking "oh! Nazi! Commies! Jews!" and so on. Not on the brink of the Victory Day. On the day, when that nightmare finaly ended. Where we finaly found peace. Dont make yourselves bad and bring others in that.

    Sinsirely. Your most hated.

Ah, what a coincidence indeed. We literally had this exact same discussion in discord hours before you posted this thread lol. (not sarcasm, I believe you)

Anyways besides the Jew killings, he was an absolutely a fantastic leader. He rebuilt Germany from the ruins of ww1, so well that Germany was made into an economic and industrial superpower. The unemployment rate was below 5% a few years into his Leadership, and his approval rates were through the roof as well. He did many great things for his people and his country. Without Hitler the German war machine would've never been able to sustain itself. The problem was that he commanded it wrong, ultimately leading to Germany's downfall.

As for why he's hated so much compared to Stalin or Lenin, what the video explains pretty much sums it up. Both leaders did bad things, but I feel like Hitler gets the short end of the stick.

Listen I'm not attempting to downgrade the legitimacy of your statement here, but some of your information doesn't coincide with our history books. Now most would think the actual Russian (your grandfather) who was alive at the time would know much more about the USSR than me or Dawson and Frozen , but you need not forget that Soviet Union was a giant fucking propaganda machine spitting lies to their citizens and even members of their party.

I could say the same thing about your country, your leader and your history teachings, Wolfgang.
    1:1

Also, Belarus still lives by the old communistic rules and, as many may know, they're the happiest people in Slovakian nation.
    1:2

Also also, you shoudn't defend something stupid like this. Its the same "propaganda", and it works the same way (you cannot deny it, since you've started defeidnig it). You can attack other countries and spread curses on it. True. But can you defend your country from these exact curses?
    1:3

Think about it and try to disagree with this again. Find a logical solution and accept something, to prevent future misunderstanding. Or grab onto your "truth" and start it all again. Then we'll start another drama, and get into trouble.
    Think twice.

    You rang?

In my opinion, a key difference is how history is being taught to people. In history classes I've had, I've probably gone through the history of the Nazi party, their rise to power, and Hitler 4-5 separate times that I can remember. However, I can't recall any occasions where we spent a good amount of time going over communism other than when talking about the Soviet Union once or twice. Also, let's keep in mind that Nazi's were sort of a one off thing, that I know of you don't see any other countries claiming to have a Nazi party after the fall of Nazi Germany. Communism is more widespread through numerous countries throughout history. So it's kind of odd that we were taught more about Nazi's during a short stretch of time in history and less about communism which is way more widespread.

    Disclaimer: I'm not a historian.

Yes I learned about this recently (about how many people stalin killed), but people don't know about it because there's not a certain group of people fighting to make sure people learn and remember as there was with the Jews and nazis.

Kinda goes with this quote: “When fascism comes to America it will be called anti-fascism.” -Huey Long
Those times were very interesting, it seemed people were scrambling to see what government worked. I love history and the 40's-80's are very intriguing, times were odd back then.

Please don't hurt me that's just my take on it

Thing is: Commuism itself isn't that bad. It's just that every time it is applied to society, it ends up having a dictator, which is literally the opposite of communism.
